Wow what a great thing the Amazon store module is. I have easily created an Amazon store on a site that looks as though it is all on my site until the user actually checks out. This site does not actually need the checkout so the user uses all the features of the Amazon API without ever leaving the site. Once it is set up you can look forward to a tutorial on using it with Panels.
